Top 10 tips to win this strike:

  1. Don’t forget why we are striking: the workload is crippling which not only affects the quality of education but also your health. 1/3 of our pensions have been stolen and we have not had a pay rise in line with inflation for over 10 years!
  2. Don’t forget we are now taking Action Short Of a Strike NOW! This means working to contract – that’s just 7 hours each weekday.
  3. On strike days: do what you can – join in if you can, but there are lots of other jobs to do to help – ask your School Rep what you can do to get involved.
  4. Talk with your students NOW about what might happen and WHY (better learning conditions). Tell them to direct their anger at the VC by sending him a letter using our template.
  5. Attend Branch Meetings – you are always welcome and your voice counts.
  6. Join your school WhatsApp group for the very latest information and SUPPORT. Ask your School Rep about this.
  7. Tune into UCU Twitter and UCU Instagram to keep abreast of change as it happens. Have a look at our local branch Twitter too.
  8. STRIKES do work! So far Barristers have won pay increases of 15%; BT 16%; HGV drivers 9.5%; Stagecoach 20% and NHS Scotland 11.3%.
  9. Strike action is the last resort…but we are all now at that resort. Enough is Enough!
